Things to do
At Woodside Lodge, you are right in the centre of the Scottish Highlands, and within a short drive, bicycle or even canoe you will find castles, picturesque seaside towns and villages, highland cattle, waterfalls and sailing. Located in the heart of the Argyll forest, there is plenty of ancient woodland to explore on foot or bike, but there is still plenty to get up to at ours too.
Stroll across our private beach to find crabs, mussels and oystercatchers or wander through our flourishing kitchen gardens. You can just kick back, relax over a glass (or two!) or go al fresco on our terrace near the perfectly positioned wood-fired oven, the choice is yours.
A gentle walk down the gravel path leads to further surprises hidden in our garden and woodland! You will find our boat house, Glennie stream, kitchen garden, greenhouse, fruit cages and wild flowers, seals and our own native Red Squirrels.
We also have a wide range of activities available if you want your stay at Woodside Lodge to be action-packed. Being surrounded by mountains and seas, we are fortunate to have endless possibilities for exploring.
See the wildlife
Have your own Scottish safari and try and spot the local Golden Eagles, Red Squirrels, Red Deer, Seals or the guaranteed Otters.
Take to the water
We offer wild swimming at Woodside Lodge with our local wild swimming instructor Dan The Merman. Being very sheltered, with loads of access points, it is the perfect place to take a dip, or you could even go under the water if you are into free diving and do a wreck dive at Averella.
Go on the water
We have great fishing in the area, or you could take the opportunity to enjoy the fantastic sailing, kayaking and canoeing.
Head to the hills
The surrounding hills and nearby munros offer some great hill-walking and mountain biking for all levels.
Foraging
Have you ever been interested in understanding how to eat from the local land and find your food? Well come and join us on an expedition, we don’t mind if you’re a beginner or a pro, the more we can find, the better.
Stay cosy
If you would rather stay inside we can arrange a painting workshop, or there is always the ever-popular whisky tasting.
